Minnesota residency question for weddings

Question:

Rev. Coleman,

We're thinking of coming to the Twin Cities because my parents are there, as is the Mall of America (we're from Alaska) was just curious if you need to be a resident of St. Paul to get married anywhere in St. Paul.

Thank you.

Minnetonka Bride

Answer:

Dear MB,

Short answer: Nope.

Long answer: You can get your marriage license in any county in Minnesota, and then use that license to get married in any location in Minnesota, and you don't have to be a resident of that city or county (you do not even have to be a Minnesota resident).

I hope this answer helps!

Harrington Mansion for weddings in Minneapolis, MN

Question:

Hello, Reverend Tomkin,

I recently started working for the Zuhrah Shrine Center & Harrington Mansion in Minneapolis and will be focusing on the Wedding market in the Twin Cities. I am looking to build a list of preferred vendors and would definitely be interested in meeting with you and chatting about ceremony opportunities here at the Mansion.

When you have a moment, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
Amy Heimer
Harrington Mansion/Zuhrah Shrine Center

Answer:

Dear Amy,

It was so wonderful talking with you on the phone today! I would be honored to be on your Preferred Vendors list. As we talked about, I have coordinate and performed many wedding ceremonies at the Harrington Mansion, and it is one of my favorite wedding reception sites in the Twin Cities.

If you ever have pictures you'd like me to use on my review of Harrington Mansion, feel free to e-mail them to me. I love working at the Harrington, and look forward to working with you!

Warm regards,

Commitment ceremony for straight couple in Minnesota

Question:

Dear Rev. Coleman,

I have a question for you. My cousins and his girlfriend wanted to do a commitment ceremony in Minnesota and did not want to be married. I noticed that you do same sex commitment ceremonies, but I wanted to confirm, is there also commitment ceremonies for straight people? I was just wondering seeing that his fiance had been married before and they just want to have the commitment ceremony done.

Sincerely,

Helpful Cousin

Answer:

Good morning, HC,

Absolutely! Your cousin and his girlfriend can definitely have a commitment ceremony, and I have performed many for couples in their situation.

Feel free to have them call me (612-986-5528) and we can discuss details.

Warm regards,

Rev. Tomkin Coleman
