Outside catering for Minneapolis, MN wedding

Question:

Hello, Reverend Coleman,

Is it okay if I ask you a question? I am getting married in August in the Twin Cities and I need some guidance. I need a garden ceremony location in the Minneapolis, MN area that's affordable with a reception location that's affordable near by that and for around 60 people including bridal party. I have been looking for an open catering venue (to bring in my own catering from relatives) since my wedding is on an extremely tight budget.

Can you help me with advice?

Relatives Can Provide Catering

Answer:

Good afternoon, RCPC,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I completely understand your desire for a wedding reception location in Minnesota that allows outside catering, plus, you want a spot that has an outdoor area. Unfortunately, most Minnesota wedding reception locations make their money from the catering, and so they don't allow outside catering. This is especially true for the premiere wedding reception locations.

The only site I've ever heard of in the Twin Cities that allows outside catering, plus has an outdoor area, is the Waterfall View Event Center in Anoka, MN. Its outdoor area is quite beautiful, but one bride told me that they're not always good at returning phone calls, so you have to pursue them aggressively.

I hope this answer helps!

Warmly,

Rev. Tomkin Coleman
MN Wedding Coordinator & Officiant
