Lake Harriet Rose Garden
Map & directions to this outdoor wedding site

Back to Gardens

The bride, groom, and minister often stand in this archway. The photo is taken from where the guests would be standing (on the south side of the arch.)The Lake Harriet Rose Garden is absolutely gorgeous.  You may choose any spot in the Gardens for your wedding ceremony, but most couples choose the spot that is pointed out because of its seclusion and there is a pretty arch in front of which the Bride and Groom may stand (shown to the right.)  On the map below, the arch is location is indicated in the bottom right of the aerial photo.  Once in a while, couples will choose to have their wedding ceremony in front of the southern fountain.  For either spot, the processional usually comes up the long aisle marked in white (coming up from the NE edge of Lake Harriet.)

In the map below, the lightened section of the map contains the gardens, and the white lines are the paths.  The brown strips towards the bottom of the gardens are the actual rose bushes, and the rest is lawn and hedges.  There are two fountains in the Lake Harriet Rose Garden (also called the Lyndale Rose Garden), but the most famous one is pointed out.

The Lyndale Japanese Garden is just 50 yards away on the north side of the street, and it shares the same parking lot as the Rose Gardens.  While the Lake Harriet Rose Garden could accommodate up to about 80 Guests, the Japanese Garden is much smaller, and no matter which spot you chose, could only accommodate up to about 10 Guests. Whether you have your wedding ceremony at the Japanese Gardens or not, it's a beautiful site for pictures.

Most weddings in the Gardens don't have use the Bird Sanctuary or Lake Harriet at all, but they are listed on the map for reference.

If you are telling Guests how to get to the Lake Harriet Rose Gardens, the easiest thing to tell them is that "the Lake Harriet Rose Garden is at the NE edge of Lake Harriet".
