Light-hearted Wedding Readings
Traditional Catholic weddings usually have three wedding readings from the bible. Any of the selections from the biblical readings page are appropriate for a Catholic wedding, but here are some more from the Old and New Testament which work well.
The lines that sum up each passage are highlighted.

ECCLESIASTES - CHAPTER 4
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward
for their
labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:
but
woe to him that is alone when he falls; for he has not
another to help
him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat:
but
how can one be warm alone. And if one prevail against
him,
two shall withstand him: and a threefold cord
is not quickly broken.

GENESIS CHAPTER 2
And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the
air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there
was not found
an help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep
sleep to
fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs,
and closed
up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD
God
had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto
the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of
my
flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken
out of Man.
Therefore, shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall
be one flesh. And
they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not
ashamed.
ST JOHN - CHAPTER 2
a
marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the
mother
of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his
disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the
mother of Jesus said unto him, They have no wine. Jesus
said
unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is
not yet
come. His mother said, unto the servants, Whatsoever he
said
unto you, do it. And there were set there six water pots of
stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews,
containing two or
three firkins apiece. Jesus said unto them, Fill the water
pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And
he
said unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of
the feast.
And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted
the water
that was made wine, and knew not whence it
was: (but the servants which drew the water knew:) the
governor of the
feast called the bridegroom, And said unto him, Every man
at
the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have
well drunk,
then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine
until now.
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

ST MARK - CHAPTER 10
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male
and
female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and
mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be
one
flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What
therefore
God has joined together, let not man put asunder.

SOLOMON'S SONG - CHAPTER 2
My beloved spoke, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my
fair
one, and come away. For, lo, the
winter is past, the rain is over and gone:
The flowers appear on the earth: the time of the singing
of
birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our
land;
The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines
with
the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my
fair one, and
come away.

SOLOMON'S SONG - CHAPTER 8
Set
me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal
upon
your arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel
as the grave:
the coals thereof are coals of fire, which has a most
vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods
drown
it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for
love, it
would utterly be contemned.
